Well … well … well!
You will live to fulfill your days.
Guess what the Spirit of God is saying to
me as I’m typing these words?
He is saying to me: “Soon, the rest of the world will
turn their gaze on you [Nigerians] and wonder whether
the same people that they have malign online unfairly
are those making waves on the same Internet.”
I know His voice. And I see you fulfilling that
prophecy.
We need to be focused. We need to eschew any
act that will tarnish our image. Above all, we need
to understand that the Internet is a TOOL that
can be used to bring ideas that will solve peoples’
problems and make their lives easy.
Once we realize that, we will begin to create
online products and services that our people can
use – just like the Americans, Europeans and
the Asians are doing already.
When we get to that point, when we create
our own Ebays, our Googles and Yahoos, our ClickBank,
our PayPal etc., for Nigerians, and we are doing well,
then the world will pay attention.
Let me give you an example of what I’m saying
so that you’ll catch the vision.
Take newspaper publishing. Nigerians are
not relying on newspapers published abroad to satisfy
their need for news.
Rather, you have Nigerians who use the same type
of machines as newspaper publishers abroad to serve
Nigerians news.
And those who are running their newspaper business well
in the country are making good profit from it.
Just imagine if that were not the case. And that Nigerians
had to rely on The Sun of London for their news. One day, we
could be told that we have been black-listed and we could no
longer get our newspaper supply from them.
Which was what ClickBank did. It was possible for a Nigerian
to open a ClickBank account back in 2000 with no questions
asked. Then, one day, I woke up to discover that had become
history.
If someone here creates a system where Nigerians
can be buying and selling digital products — that’s what the
ClickBank model is all about — would we need to break our
necks to have ClickBank account?
That is the vision. That is the way to our future dignity
online. Listen to this: if we have a successful website like
that; that has reputation of being well managed, you will
be surprised that many of the info merchants online who are
always looking for avenue to sell their products will soon
start to offer them through the Nigerian site.

Well, i think we are growing day by day.Pesonally, i would say i believe in ojeagbase’s dream.i beleive that one we will be there,time is coming when Nigeria will be seen as the true giant of Africa in terms of technology,economy and what a view.olajide lateef to me is one of Guru of our time, so keep it up, more power to your elbow
As for me, I believe in that dream. I know Nigeria can compete with the rest of the world if we can create oppurtunities for ourselves instead of waiting on these so called developed countries who only take us for hungry,dubious and good for nothing people.Its time for we Nigerians to break away from this shylock investors who are ready to trade away our lives in other for them to profit.I see a new Nigerian,where citizens would have more that 70% share of all facets of the economy, if we can see create these oppurtunities by ourselves and for ourselves
I share your hopes and aspirations, Lateef. Nigeria shall no doubt attain that height but there is a dire need for a reorientation of the youths who are the leaders of tomorrow. It’s unfortunate that many that belong to the old generation have failed to give the desired leadership thus leaving a bunch of bad followers. All hope is not lost anyway, let’s keep on praying and be proactive.
The dream is awsome and would certainly change lives of active parttakers for the better.
i have always felt similar to this about nigeria, we can be great, i mean so many times when i sit an really ponder i have these great ideas that come up and i know for sure it was God who popped it into my head, the ideas are so big i’ll need a loan to materialise it, i am sure many other nigerian youths at one point in time have had such ideas too, but couldnt act on it. well maybe we could sell our ideas to some willing investor. i remember trying to sing up for a pay pal account and was embarrassed to know that nigeria was not on the list of approved countries, the next time i went to the cafe and saw those young teens scaming away i was really pissed cause they certainly dont help good intentioned nigerians who want to do business online. i stumbled upon a nigerian sight today http://www.tokunbo.com, and was impressed. keep it up nigerians, i am proud to be one.
I don’t doubt your dream after all you are not the only person dreaming of that. Thank God for inspiring yuong minds in Nigeria. Just recently I was just thinking of a better Nigeria where we can sit down at home & do our shopping, pay for goods & services and close business deals. I think its a great dream. But I most there are lots of Nigerians out there who would like to share in this dream but don’t know where to start from or what kind of internet biz they would like to embark on. If someone somewhere can start an online training programme to really teach Nigerians on how to do internet biz. I think we will more persons believing in your dream. N.J. Meshack

With what i know, doing business online as a Nigerian is a very challenging one. But if we stay focus and we stay away from those act that will tarnish our image as RICH DAD said then the day will come when the challenges we face with Paypal, Clickbank etc will be a thing of the past just like it is for some other countries now.
We need to do more by increasing the level of e-business awareness in our country. Nigeria is rich and big enough to create internet millionaires and Experts with or without the help of all these foreign bodies.
It high time we wake up. Let Nigerian IT Experts come together and let see if we can’t develop a very good and reliable online payment system, a system where we can be buying and selling digital products just like ClickBank, etc.
Nigeria has been delisted from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) blacklist, We already have Visa and MasterCard here in Nigeria, We can have something far better. All we need is more work and focus, let come together, let team up as one and fight our way through.

I must confess, this qualitative and unquantifiable information is an eye opener for we Nigerians, who never thought about the power in independence and problem involved in reliability. I must make a fact clear, there is nothing these whites are doing that is unachievable in this world of our own.
We should cultivate the habit of starting things big in our initiatives with seriousness, focus, determination and commitment. What Yahoo,Google, Clickbank and others are doing can be practiced and perfected right here in Nigeria ,while we become icon of attraction.

The time for a new age has come, it is closer than we all expect it to be, the time is NOW.
Now is the time when we all need to look inwards and develop ourselves, lets all forget the old ways of doing things which has yielded little or no fruitful result, lets look inside ourselves and see if we have done every thing we can to see a better future for ourselves and generations after us. What a man can not see in his mind he can not possess in the physical.

I understand the sentiment as a nigerian who lives abroad. I am frustrated that I can’t make paypal payments to my contacts back home.
While I appreciate our wanting to create our own clickbanks, paypals, ebays e.t.c the challenge here is that we are cutting ourselves away from the rest of the world wide web so straightaway limiting the reach of our networks.
There is an obvious reason why we have this situation, it’s because of the prevalent fraud situation in Nigeria. While you and I may only be interested in doing legitimate business, there have been some unscrupulous elements who have gone and made things difficult for other Nigerians.
A more practical solution is to engage a major bank in Nigeria that see’s the potential of internet business and engage with these companies like paypal, clickbank and ebay and discuss possibilities of putting in security systems that would make it difficult for these fraudsters who are in the minority but have had a serious negative impact and then open up poerations in Nigeria.
Do not for once think that these companies don’t want to do business in Nigeria. They really do and I pray it happens cos it would be a really massive opportunity for true enterpreneurs in Nigeria to take advantage of the power of the internet and generate a global income.
