Dial up – broadband wirelsss internet connection in nigeria

by Rich Kid on February 11, 2008

It is no more news that poor internet service is one of the major problem Nigerian internet users (either for business or personal use) are fighting with everyday. Imaging waiting several minutes to load a webpage. If you use dial up services like multilinks and starcomms you know what I am saying.

We have to all agree on something here; dial up services are not meant for heavy browsers. So don’t expect them to be speedy.  That is the way it is in other part of the world. It is just that it’s a bit worst here.

The only solution is to have a broadband internet access. Few months ago I embarked on a mission to uncover few broadband internet service providers in nigeria. If you don’t read my first and second article on Dial up- boardband wireless connection – internet access in nigeria can get better – you can check two links bellow:

http://internetmarketingnigeria.com/general/dial-up-broadband-access-internet-access-in-nigeria-can-get-better/

http://internetmarketingnigeria.com/general/dial-up-broadband-wirelsss-connection-internet-access-in-nigeria-can-get-better-11/

In those two articles I mention a service provider that we use in office. The name of the company is ipnx nigeria limited the owner of iwireless. Whe I first wrote my review about their service some of our subscribers that are within the coverage area of ipnx subscribed then. Lots of others are unable to subscribe because they are outside the coverage area.

With the news that I got from ipnx today, they have expand their network area to following areas:

“iwireless Broadband internet service is now available along the Lekki/Ajah peninsula; from Victoria Island up to Crown Estate. Therefore, customers in Lekki phase 1, Chevron, Co-op Villa, Ajah and environs, VGC and Crown Estate can now enjoy reliable broadband connections via iwireless.

Also Festac, Satellite town, Ojo and Amuwo Odofin is now fully covered”

Note: Internet Marketing Nigeria is not in anyway associated with ipnx nigeria limited. We are not their agent or promoter. We use their service. It is good that is why we are sharing it with our subscribers. Any decision you make is solely YOURS.

Laitan I may not be able to answer that question. But hopefully the broadband wireless service in nigeria will increase and improve soon.

Bucci, I am not sure that may happen so soon. I will advice you stay with multilinks, starcomms and probably glo mobile 3g network for now.

Well, do you have coverage at Ikorodu. I want to believe that a good product should be spread over Nigeria especially the whole Lagos state.

Thanks to everyone on here. This is good for me.. I am a university student here in UK. I am taking my finals and studying Global Marketing. I am working on a project and it is about the entry of an European company and the development of an innovative product (new product) in Nigeria. .The product I chose involves the use of internet and I was asked by my lecture to research the internet speed in Nigeria before embanking on this project.

This forum has really helped and one other one too..so just want to say keep up the good job over there.

Hi afternoon,
i was one of your subscriber to a dial-up service, but out of town for a while. am back and will need your assistance to connecting back my dial-up with my computer, providing me with necessary details as well as software if required.

Note: i observed that the new computer am using does not work with the connecting cable for the DTE and DCE. my new computer does not have any serial port, but a LAN port, but the cable giving is LAN to Serial.

i wouldn’t mind if you can give a confirmation if a LAN to LAN cable will work from your phone to my system.

Thanks,
Subscriber

I have been using dial-up internet connection for 4 years now but my experience have been very bitter ranging from Retel now Zoom Mobile to Starcomms. A friend of mine using iwireless broadband internet connection introduced me to their service. But Unfortunately, after purchase it didn’t work (NO SERVICE) in my area. I had to return it.

Yes, there are a lot of good comments about iwireless. I want to be part of people commending on iwireless. Please i urge iwireless to spread their coverage to Choba in Rivers State. Many people over here (in my area) want to be your subscriber.

Anyway, while iwireless is yet to come, does anyone know of any strong broad band i can hook up to? Please kindly hint me…

Thanks

Joshua IDEMUDIA
