Setting Up a Word Press Blog
You have register your domain name. It is already hosted with either of the hosting service suggested. If you into my account for domain name registration and hosting kindly email your niche market and possible domain names to big bang event official email address to claim your domain name.
Let us set up your first website.
Log into the cpanel of your domain account with the username and password you got from your hosting service.
a. Type in http://www.yourdomainname.com/cpanel
b. Hit enter
c. You will see a pop-up box requesting you to enter your username and password.
2. Enter the username and your password you got from your hosting service provider.
If you are accessing your cpanel for the first time this is how it looks like:
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you’ll see a Smiley Face icon that’s
labeled “Fantastico.” It’s usually in light blue colour. Click on it. It will take you to fantastico homepage where you can find all pre-installed script on your domain that you can use.
4. On next page look at the left panel. You will see blog. Under it you will see different blog application.
5. Click on “Word Press.” This will open page where you can start installation process.
6. Click on “New Installation.”
7. Choose the domain you want to install the blog on. If you only have one domain name in this hosting account you don’t have to worry about that. Just make sure your domain name is in the box.
8. Leave “Install in directory” blank and continue down the page to place blog on your root domain.
9. Create a user name and password for your blog. Write the information down, so you don’t forget it.
10. Complete the other information as you want. You can always change it later inside your blog admin manager.
a. Admin Nickname: Will be the name appearing at the end of each post you write. If you want you may put your name here. For internetmarketingnigeria.com I use ‘richkid’. You’ve probably notice that on the site.
b. Admin email: You may want to leave it as it is.
c. Site Name: You can see your domain name in the box. If you want that to be your site name, the name people will see when they come to your site then leave it. However, you can change anytime.
d. Description: what will your site be all about. In simple word what will be the benefit of visitors to your site. Just describe it. You may visit other website in your market to see how they describe their blog site. It is usually at the top header of the site.
11. Click on “Install Word Press.”
12. On next page Click on “Finish Installation.”
14. Next page show you important information about your site. Copy and save it somewhere. Better still enter your email address in the empty box and clik on send e-mail to have the information sent to you.
15. Now close that page. Open a new page. Type in your domain name and see your new blog.
Task of the day completed. Tomorrow we will edit and customize your new site.
