Alternative payment solution to paypal (part one)

by Rich Kid on March 15, 2008

hurdleIt is no more news that number 1 hurdle (or assumed hurdle) most nigerian internet business opportunity seekers have to scale is how to receive payment online and cash their money here in nigeria. Some people have been trying to find a way to be able to use paypal despite the fact that it is obvious truth that Nigerians are not allow ‘legitimately’ to use paypal.

I know a very good fellow that open paypal account sometimes. How he did it, I don’t know but he was happy he did. I don’t envy him because I can imagine what will happen to such account. Not long ago the account was frozen and he lost few thousands of dollars. So my advice for you is to play wise.

It is not everybody that needs paypal account that wants to use it to receive affiliate commission or pay online. Some internet marketers wants to use it to receive payment for their personal product. If you are in the later group the rest of this article is for you. If you are not and you still want to make money online, then I will advice that you start thinking toward ‘product creation and selling’ internet business model.

Their is a payment service named ‘2checkout’. You can use their service to receive2checkout payment for following:

Your digital information product. e.g ebook, audio or video files and softwares.
Your physical products

Can you sign up as a nigeria – YES!

Read this from 2checkout website:

acceptinternational

You can sign up here: https://www2.2checkout.com/2co/signup

How will they send you your earnings?

As international client you have 3 payment options availble you.

1. 2checkout can air mail your check to you.
2. They can send it to you via international wire transfer.
3. They have a card system now card payoneer. It is 2checkout prepaid debit card that is mastercard. They send you the card. Every week they pay your earning directly into your account with them and you can access it with the card anywhere in the world on ATM machine that is mastercard enabled or any where mastercard is accepted.

You can read more from 2checkout website – http://www.2checkout.com

What you can’t do with 2checkout:

They don’t have affiliate system like that of clickbank that recruit and pay affiliate for you. With the rate at which they are improving their service they may include the system soon. Ha! that is my personal imagination.

Meanwhile you can still use their system to get your earning for your digital product.

Lateef,

I like your article about 2checkout but I
do not use them because they are very strict
and I do not think it is okay for a newbie.

The service I use is alertpay.com and I really
love them.

they accept nigerians also and you can sign
up for a free account immediately to collect
your credit card payments.

Anyway.

Thanks for the information.

Dele Ajado March 17, 2008 at 8:45 am

Femi Olabode, all you probably need now is a zenith bank web surfer card. You don’t need to have account with zenith bank before you get this card.

Oluwatoyin, can you please explain what you mean by they are very strict? Because I have been using the service for years now without any issue at all.

Hi Jide,
Thanks for your information on alternative payment solution. In fact, I’ve heard of 2CO but not to this detail you supplied. However, I’m not clared as to my payments online to others.Do you mean that if I sing up I can then pay for my purchases on the net? Please reply me soon. Thanks and you’re blessed.

Rich Kid March 17, 2008 at 7:15 pm

Boniface, if you want to pay for any of your own purchases all you need is credit card. YOu can get prepaid credit card from nigerian banks now. Zenith websurfer card is a good solution.

Femi Olabode March 18, 2008 at 2:50 am

Thank you Dele Ajado, do you mean that the mastercard from
G T Bank is not what I need, you see they ask me to open a domiciliary account first then after 10 working days I can
apply for the mastercard. can I still go ahead for the mastercard because it is not yet up to 10 days that I apply
for domiciliary account, or do I need both web surfer and mastercard.

Obinna Ene March 18, 2008 at 2:52 am

Hi Lateef, thanks for a wonderful post. With regards to 2checkout i also mailed them and i was told that Nigeria is accepted but b/f you can use there system they would have to scrutinize the product you want to sell, which is fair to forstall fruad. Thanks again for your effort in enlightening us.Thumbsup!!!

Rich Kid March 18, 2008 at 8:37 am

Obinna, I am glad you contacted 2checkout. Their is a need to scrutinize products. I guess this is what some Nigerians don’t like. Some have had their account closed because they intend selling make money online products only.

Femi, I was the person that responded to your post above using Dele Ajado’s system. If you have already open domiciliary account with GTB as part of the process to get mastercard you may not have to get another card from Zenith Bank. However, If you can afford it I will advice that you do.

The reason why is this; if the mastercard that you will be getting from GTB will be linked to your domiciliary account, which is good. But using such card to make payments online often is risky because of card fraud online.

But if you are using a prepaid card even if anything happen you won’t loose more than you load on that card. YOu can even load only little amount you need to spend over short period.

simply issue of nigerian ip address. some website didn’t allow card payment if you are accessing website from nigerian ip.

Solution?

1. Use proxy sites to access the website.
2. Access the site form cybercafe that did not use nigerian ip address. To detect that just visit this website; http://www.showmyip.com you will see ip address and country of the ip address the cybercafe use on that website.

The 18,000 or so CHILDREN that DIED TODAY (and every day) of STARVATION or MALNUTRITION, and to,
The 850,000,000 or so people who will go to bed tonight with EMPTY STOMACHS.
We find it hard to feel for these people, and importantly children, as they are not our own sister, son or relative. But if you just open your heart for 1 SECOND you will be FLOODED by the DESPAIR facing the starving children of HUMANITY.
