Basic tools for internet business

After reading day 1 and day two messages, you now understand importance of having right mindset for internet business. You now know that you have to learn, practice what you learn and measure your feedback. You now have your list of beautiful things you want to achieve in 2009. You are ready to give it all it takes to achieve your goals. You can do it my brother.

One of the reasons why I like use of internet for starting and building business is low entry cost. You don’t need to have huge capital to start. You don’t need to rent a place because you can start from your room. If you understand law of leverage you can even start with absolute zero cost.

Basic things you need.

1. Computer/Laptop
2. Internet Access
3. Know- how
4. Prepaid debit card $50 to $100

Desktop Computer/Laptop

If you can afford having your own computer it is good. It will save you a lot of stress and frustration that comes with use of other people’s computer and cyber cafe computer.

When I first started I couldn’t afford to buy my own computer. I use cybercafe’s computer a lot. It wasn’t best thing to do because I often lost lot of useful research data. Many cybercafes have applications that clean their pc of whatever you download on them. You have to repeat simple process like downloading software you want to use almost everyday. Instead of spending 1hr you may end up spending 3hrs.

However, if you have your pc even if it’s not connected on internet you can download stuffs, copy it on a flash drive and access it on your pc at home anytime. You can then save yourself lot of non productive hours.

It’s even better nowadays compare to years back when the price of computer is beyond reach of common man. You can get a complete brand new desktop computer for as little as N50, 000 or less. And if you choose to get pc engineer to couple one for you by buying the components (i.e. cpu, monitor, keyboard, mouse, ups) you may not pay more than N30, 000.

However, if you choose to go for laptop you can still get good quality brand new laptop for N70,000. You may even get fairly used laptops at a very affordable price.

Internet Access

The number of internet service providers in the country has been on increase over the years. It is good news for every internet users in the country. You now have opportunity to choose the one that you want.

High speed broadband internet service providers are not many yet but the dial up service providers are almost everywhere now.

The internet service that you use will depend on your budget and location. It is obvious that those that live in Lagos and most especially ikeja, surulere and major part of island will have more providers to choose from.

Couple of years ago I used multilinks (now multilinks telecom) and starcomms dial up. However, I use starcomms izap and ipnx wireless broadband service. So check the provider that you have in your area.

Internet Marketing Know – How

You don’t need to be a computer geek before you can use it for internet business. All you need basic computer knowledge like how to on and shut down your pc, and how to use simple Microsoft applications like ms word, notepage etc. You don’t need to go to computer school before you can master that. You can find somebody to teach you, even in cybercafe or computer business centre.

You also need to know how to surf internet. If you are reading this post online I will assume you know that already. So clap for yourself.

Once you know how to use your computer and how to surf internet, the next step is to get basic knowledge of internet marketing. See, I said basic knowledge because that is what is most important. There are too many information on internet marketing. If you want to know everything before you starts, you will get infected with famous virus called “information overload”. Information overload only leads to inaction, frustration and of course empty pocket.

Internet marketing education is free. Don’t be surprised! I know what I am saying. Internet marketing information is free. I mean completely free. You can learn what you need to start making money online from free sources like this website and other internet marketing blog sites and forums.

When I first start internet business lack of means to pay for products and services online was my first challenge. Most of the time, I always had to travel to Ibadan before I can get somebody to help me make payments online through his relative in USA. It was a painful experience.

You don’t have to experience such frustration. You don’t have to pay unnecessary charges before you can buy anything online. You can now get your own prepaid debit or credit card here in Nigeria. Most banks now offer both visa and MasterCard.

I use zenith bank websurfer card (a prepaid MasterCard) and Fastecash.
