The article you are about to read is about a teen who lived in a one-bedroom apartment with her mom and sister. But with her computer and savvy business sense she made a better life for all of them.

As of the time her success story began her parents were divorced. She and her little sister, Shelby, were all crammed into her mother’s one-bedroom apartment. Unlike many adults, this young lady has not succumbed to the temptations that new wealth can bring. She pays herself a modest salary of $3,000 a month. Aside from the house, she hasn’t made any other major purchases.

When her first check arrived, her mother was doubtful, wondering if her daughter could really make money off a website.  But this young lady was confident, telling her mother: “No, I really trust this. I think it’s really gonna happen.”This is a story of persistence and smart thinking and it can be done even here in Nigeria.

 “If you want to succeed, double your failure rate” -Thomas Watson.

Success is sure, if only we understand and live by the principles that brings it to any man. Here are some of the tips that have made a whole lot of difference in my life and in the lifes of those I look up to. YOU can MAKE IT HAPPEN for you this YEAR 2008 as you learn to live by them.

1) Learn to start with what you have and stay with it until you can get what you need to do greater task. 

2) Do everything necessary and legal to get you to where you should be, even if you don’t like doing it. As time goes on you will be able to choose what you want to do and outsource the rest if you so wish.

3) If you have to pay for what you need to get you to your goal, don’t hesitate. If you can’t afford it, you might need to save or better still find a legal means to raise the much need fund.

4) If you need money, learn to give something in exchange. It could be a product or a service. Just make sure you identify people’s need or something they really want done and won’t do on their own. They should also be able to part with some notes (you know what i mean).

5) You need persistence to be able to follow through a worthy course. Nothing is easy or fast as we always want or as we think and wish it should be. It can only get easier and faster when we have learnt how to do it and this we can best learn by doing it.

6) “If you want to succeed, double your failure rate” -Thomas Watson. Mistakes, setback and Failures are vital tools to success, make them your teachers. You will never succeed if you are scared of them.

7) Always keep it in mind that Money is not the real thing, it is only a shadow of the real thing. It’s only a means to an end. You will never do well chasing it. Keep your eyes on the real stuffs.

8) The only way to get to the top and stay there is climbing up and you can’t do this without the help of a support. If you try jumping up, then be sure you can only stay there for a while after which the law of gravity won’t spare you. 

9) One easy step to success is to follow the examples of successful people. They are already where you intend to be. Find and make them your support. Study how they think and what they do and then start thinking like them and doing what they do eventually you will find success.

10) Action… Action… Action… You need a lot of action.

Well … well … well!

You will live to fulfill your days.

Guess what the Spirit of God is saying to
me as I’m typing these words?

He is saying to me: “Soon, the rest of the world will
turn their gaze on you [Nigerians] and wonder whether
the same people that they have malign online unfairly
are those making waves on the same Internet.”

I know His voice. And I see you fulfilling that
prophecy.

We need to be focused. We need to eschew any
act that will tarnish our image. Above all, we need
to understand that the Internet is a TOOL that
can be used to bring ideas that will solve peoples’
problems and make their lives easy.

Once we realize that, we will begin to create
online products and services that our people can
use - just like the Americans, Europeans and
the Asians are doing already.

When we get to that point, when we create
our own Ebays, our Googles and Yahoos, our ClickBank,
our PayPal etc., for Nigerians, and we are doing well,
then the world will pay attention.

Let me give you an example of what I’m saying
so that you’ll catch the vision.

Take newspaper publishing. Nigerians are
not relying on newspapers published abroad to satisfy
their need for news.

Rather, you have Nigerians who use the same type
of machines as newspaper publishers abroad to serve
Nigerians news.

And those who are running their newspaper business well
in the country are making good profit from it.

Just imagine if that were not the case. And that Nigerians
had to rely on The Sun of London for their news. One day, we
could be told that we have been black-listed and we could no
longer get our newspaper supply from them.

Which was what ClickBank did. It was possible for a Nigerian
to open a ClickBank account back in 2000 with no questions
asked. Then, one day, I woke up to discover that had become
history.

If someone here creates a system where Nigerians
can be buying and selling digital products — that’s what the
ClickBank model is all about — would we need to break our
necks to have ClickBank account?

That is the vision. That is the way to our future dignity
online. Listen to this: if we have a successful website like
that; that has reputation of being well managed, you will
be surprised that many of the info merchants online who are
always looking for avenue to sell their products will soon
start to offer them through the Nigerian site.

 Welcome to the dawn of a new year, a new season and a new month. The holidays are over. It’s time to get back to business. How prepared are you for this year? What will be stopping you from achieving your set goals?

In the past, I have heard and read about people’s different reasons why they have not been able to make any success doing business online. As we begin this year, it just occurred to me to ask you this one question, what will be stopping you? This is just one of the questions I asked myself while putting down my goals. Now I am putting it before you.

WHAT WILL BE STOPPING YOU? Take a deep look at what your goals are, can you see the difference from where you are now and where you should be when you have it accomplished. What are the obstacles you see that may be stopping you?

Here in Nigeria majority still believes that poor electricity supply, internet connectivity, online payment systems and not being able to access some sites are their major obstacles. You may also be experiencing the same problems or perhaps you have your own unique challenges. Whatever the case, will you watch them stop you from achieveing your goals this year 2008?

Friend, just before you answer the above question, I will like you to bear in mind that there are people just like you who were able to find their feet doing business online as Nigerians. Their case probably worse, because things are far better now than then.

We have been experiencing some form of improvment in our internet connectivity, online payment system and other factors that make it easier for anyone to do business on the internet. More companies are coming in, the competiton is on the increase and this has lead to better service springing up. We are looking forward to 3G Internet Connection. All this is a clear indicator that things are getting better.

Friend, this is a good time to kick start your internet business, don’t let anything stop you. If you feel like the pressures or challenges are too much to bear, take your eyes off the challenges and focus it on the reasons why you must make it. Your end result, the GOAL before you. The life you could have if you GOALS are achieved. The kind of lifesytle you intend to enjoy. With GOD on your side, enough faith, perseverance, handwork and smartwork, you will surely reach your Goal.

In 2008 you will become healthier, wealthier and happier if you only do one thing - ….if you “MAKE IT HAPPEN”.

If yes, check your goal book now. What’s your new year resolution?

Is it to become next internet millionaire in nigeria, is it to become a success in internet business or other business of your choice?

Consider the following areas. List your wish under each:

Personal (includes, HEALTH, FINANCE, HOBBY, INTEREST etc)

Social

Mental

Spiritual 

Now ask yourself - What is the one thing I can do in each of these areas that will have greatest impact this month?

Once you discover that one thing, you are ready for the race.

I will see you at the other end, where you will be receiving the reward for ‘making it happen’.

If you take care of big rocks (the most important things), the small stuff will fall in place accordingly.
